Several times a year, KinderPrep offers an opportunity to the 4 year old program students to extend the learning day through Enrichment classes. Typically, these classes meet for six consecutive weeks from 12:00 until 1:30 and cost an additional $60 - $70 for the six week session. Children enjoy lunch together (which the parent provides) then engage in the enrichment class activity. KinderPrep usually runs fall, winter and spring sessions of enrichment classes. Our most popular enrichment classes include the following:
Taught by staff members who are also youth soccer coaches, soccer enrichment offers the opportunity to develop soccer specific skills – whether seasoned players or just beginning! Classes are held both outside and inside, depending on the weather and the season.
Music and Movement
This fun class makes it easy to move and grove to the music. Teachers incorporate a variety of movement exercises like zumba, tumbling, dancing, and fun games to help children enjoy the healthy choice of activity.
Taught by staff members with art experience, children are introduced to different mediums when creating artwork. They will also learn to speak the “language of art”: space, dimension, symmetry and direction.
Children work with a variety of foods, measuring tools and kitchen utensils to create child-friendly cuisine. They learn about following recipes, kitchen safety and, hopefully, a little about good nutrition.
Moving beyond point and click software and internet activities, children learn how to create graphics using child friendly graphic arts software. Children build mouse skills while learning how choose the most appropriate tool for the desired effect.
Classes have varied throughout the years depending upon the interest of the children and the talents of teachers and parents who enjoy teaching a special skill. Past Enrichment classes have included:
- Martial arts
- Sign language
- Healthy Kids
